Founded in 1980, NAMI of Greater Kansas City provides medical care services for patients with a mental disability or psychiatric illness. Located in Kansas City, Mo., it offers treatment services for patients of all ages with depression, autism, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, separation anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis, and conduct, bipolar and eating disorders. The organization provides family counseling, public education program, education seminars, medication review, brain research, diagnosis and employment training services. Additionally, it offers crisis intervention, law enforcement training, problem management, advocacy, transition, recovery, consulting and rehabilitative services. NAMI of Greater Kansas City has a staff of more than 150 volunteers, family members and mental health professionals.
